Lyrically, I can’t think of any better records over the past decade than BARR’s Summary. This is the closest thing the record has to a pop song I suppose, and i’m pretty sure i’ve heard this a thousand times now.

#14 - Xiu Xiu - Hives Hives
Would only be patronising and ill-fitting to describe the genius of Jamie Stewart and Knife Play in particular when this is the GREATEST DAY OF MY LIFE. Hyperbolic arbitrary accolade: artist of the decade, by quite some distance.
#149 - The Mae Shi - Vampire Beats
Much as I’ve enjoyed The Mae Shi the multiple times i’ve seen them over the past few years, and they do ANTHEMIC POP pretty well, i’ll always mourn the loss of Terrorbird era ultraspazz with 2 minute songs being as epic as they get.
#335 - Hella -Biblical Violence
This is so good. Why are hella so good. Hold Your Horse Is is pretty much the highlight of all things math and all things zach hill. & this is the best track on that record. the only word i can think of to describe hella is unrelentless which apparently isnt even a word. fitting. etc.
if all was good in the world, every song on this blog would get progressively more notes and plays than the last one. so you’re looking at over 200 plays & a couple of notes for this.
