#250 - Free Kitten - Proper Band

formed a band?
Music blog. Throughout 2011 I'll be posting one song a day from the 90s, counting down the 'best' 365 with #1 being posted on December 31st. One song per artist. Also posted will be little features on new music and bands, as well as mixtapes made by myself and guests. During 2010 posted my favourite 365 tracks of 2000-2009, you can read that list here

#253 - Bratmobile - Fuck Yr Fans

A lot of bands would probably benefit from taking a leaf out of Bratmobile’s book and peaking their songs at two minutes.
#278 - Unwound - Nervous Energy

this is the most mentally busy 5 minutes of my life
#19 - Marnie Stern - Transformer

God bless Marnie Stern.
#147 - Mika Miko - Business Cats

Massive massive massive RIP. Had the oppurtunity to see them several times and never took it. I am rubbish.
#223 - Sleater-Kinney - Oh!

Summer, eh? Some of the best bands ever will probably not have me writing anything substantial about them cos i dont wanna be inside and oh man i wanna ride my bike and sit in the park and stuff. Which is, obviously, a tragedy because my writing is so great and stuff, y’know.
Sleater-Kinney are well amazing innit
#306 - The Decemberists - On The Bus Mall

It’s been ages since I’ve last listened to The Decemberists. They were one of the keystones of the nu-metal/pop-punk——> nme rubbish indie——> mainstream american/pitchfork indie—-> idk how to put what i like now (hipster nonsense?) idk. transition of music i had, circa 2005 when picaresque came out, bright eyes released a double album, garden state was massive, yadda yadda yadda.
Upon revisiting them, the first two records were a bit flat, The Tain and the last one (can’t remember the name?) i found completely overblown and horrible, while The Crane Wife features some pretty great moments (the two massively long songs actually work, and it’s bookended really well), but I still find Picaresque their strongest work. I used to listen to this repeatedly on a dusty, skippy cd player in my cellar which is probably filled with asbestos or something, idk. Accompanied by the previously-mentioned Super Monkey Ball.
