#16 - J Dilla - Workinonit

More badass sounding records than Donuts? You only need to do a quick search on this blog and you’ll find enough superlatives expressed for without a doubt the best producer the decade had seen, and that’s said from someone of relative Yancey ignorance - few things more heartwarming as a music fan as knowing i’ve still got a mountain of material to devour.
holy shit
#30 - Sufjan Stevens - The Predatory Bird Wasp Of The Palisades Is Out To Get Us!

probs the most affecting song i’ve ever seen live
#108 - Jay Dee - Fuck The Police

Getting tired of including tracks that Dilla made special, and there are more to come, but this surely ranks as one of his finest moments - as intense with hatred as NWA’s track of (almost) the same name or Black Flag’s Police Story. The obligatory killer beat and production that make Donuts so revered meets Yancey’s finest work as a rapper and lyricist - Flow is insane, lyrics are something else;
- Applaud any nigga that bucked them
- Cause we could lose a few of ‘em
- We got enough of ‘em…
#165 - Slum Village - Fall N Love

200 tracks in, damn. Really sad that both Dilla and Baatin have passed - this track demonstrates their incredible talent. Total classic.
#179 - Aaliyah - More Than A Woman

This »»> anything Timbaland did for JT, Nelly Furtado or Missy Elliot.
