#254 - The Roots - The Next Movement

There probably isn’t a group or artist in hip-hop more sullied by the types who say “authentic hip hop” but still pretty good right
Music blog. Throughout 2011 I'll be posting one song a day from the 90s, counting down the 'best' 365 with #1 being posted on December 31st. One song per artist. Also posted will be little features on new music and bands, as well as mixtapes made by myself and guests. During 2010 posted my favourite 365 tracks of 2000-2009, you can read that list here

#349 - Strapping Fieldhands - Mysterious Girl

Semi-recently reissued, buy it etc.
#163 - U.S. Girls - Don’t Understand That Man

Using every inch of willpower not choosing the Springsteen cover so bad. This track is my reference point in every hugely dull “but anyone can make ‘decent’ sounding recordings these days” argument, in that decent production is as subjective as good melody, and this track is made all the better and powerful due to it’s apparently shitty production.
#213 - Des Ark - Jesus Loves You (But Yr Still Coming Home With Me Tonight)

Get Loose Lips Sink Ships yooooooouuuuuu iiiiiiiiiiiidiots.
#221 - The War On Drugs - Show Me The Coast

think imma die. worst fever. spending as little time as possible looking at a screen. kurt vile’s old band really great.
#252 - A Sunny Day In Glasgow - Our Change Into Rain is No Change at All (Talkin’ ‘bout Us)

Put this band on at the library in leeds a couple of years ago - it wasn’t our most well-attended gig and my finances took a bit of a blow but I don’t regret it. They were really friendly and put in a really good performance & were all-round gr8guize.
Still think as much as MBV, Cocteau Twins, Galaxie 500, ETC are all pretty fantastic to be mentioned alongside, there’s pretty much nothing in the world that sounds like their debut - see if you agree with this track as a sample of it.
Looking forward to their return to the UK in May - massively recommend attending any dates you can make.
#264 - Kurt Vile - Don’t Get Cute

Just had to walk my bike from harrogate to leeds. moving fingers to type is painful, pretty much. kurt vile = great thats all youre getting
