#115 - Broken Social Scene - KC Accidental

oh my god those drums. sometimes i think every indie rock record should have the production of You Forgot It In People
Music blog. Throughout 2011 I'll be posting one song a day from the 90s, counting down the 'best' 365 with #1 being posted on December 31st. One song per artist. Also posted will be little features on new music and bands, as well as mixtapes made by myself and guests. During 2010 posted my favourite 365 tracks of 2000-2009, you can read that list here

#191 - Do Make Say Think - Goodbye Enemy Airship

This, a million derivative and boring post-rock bands, is how you do an album closer. And they don’t have a (particularly) poncey name.
#196 - Death From Above 1979 - Romantic Rights

Really glad I had a chance to see them when I did. Must admit at the time I didn’t like them as much as I do now, or that their debut would age as well as it did (one of the best rock records of the past AGES?). It was a weird night. Test Icicles supported and were generally pretty confusing. The friend I was with got into an AFTERSCHOOL FIGHT cos he threw food at some guy’s girlfriend, and massively lost. He had a black eye the size of a plum and he spent the entire performance poking his own eye. After the gig I left Leeds Cockpit to see Steven Gerrard celebrating winning the champions league on a tv inside the hotel episode, watching from outside on the street. Turns out I’d missed probably the greatest football match of my lifetime. So there’s a bit of regret about seeing one of the best bands ever, somehow. Cruel world.
#224 - Les Mouches - What We Know As Buildings Have Always Been Canyons

A short while ago I posted about Picastro, and said in bold to catch attention: If you’re a Final Fantasy/Owen Pallett fan, they were an essential listen. This is even more true for Les Mouches - criminally forgotten early musical endeavor from the man, and maybe my favourite thing he’s ever been involved with. Really beautiful post-rocky compositions. This track was the climax to their only record, and an incredible piece of work.
#231 - Picastro - Hortur

While this is not at all Owen Pallett’s project, I’m going to say if you’re a final fantasy / owen pallett fan, you really should hear this with a post containing the same message coming up in the next few weeks. Mostly because Whore Luck contains an Owen Pallett cameo (a former full-time member) (and also a Jamie Stewart one, cameo fans) but mostly because Whore Luck, my favourite Picastro record by some distance, contains similar atmospherics to his solo work, if a little more doomy and apocalyptic. I had the chance to see Picastro perform back in 2007 but had to leave the all-dayer early. Tragic, as a few months later I found out what a gorgeous record this is - it had me hooked as soon as this haunting opening track had finished.
#237 - Holy Fuck - Lovely Allen

Euphoric and other such synonyms.
#311 - The Bitters - Warrior

another captured tracks band. really good.
#317 - Little Girls - Youth Tunes

Apologies for a late one today. Another lo-fi guitar band in the vein of nice face etc.
